COVID-19 case numbers are continuing to grow again on the Central and South Coasts.
The number of new cases in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties has basically doubled in the last week, although they still only at a fraction of peak pandemic levels. Ventura County reported 150 new cases over the three-day period from Monday to Wednesday of this week.
The number of COVID-19 related hospitalizations is also growing. Ventura County is reporting 49 people in the county’s eight hospitals because of the virus. Santa Barbara County has 23 hospitalizations, and San Luis Obispo County three.
As KCLU News first reported Monday, Ventura and Santa Barbara County public health officials are recommending all people wear masks indoors. It’s currently only required for those who are unvaccinated, but health officials say if everyone is masked in close quarters, it will help stop the surge.
