RIPLEY, N.Y. An Ohio man has died from injuries suffered when a logging accident Saturday morning.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff s Office says David Byler, 46, of Middlefield Ohio was in a wooded area off Klondike Rd. in the Town of Ripley when one of the trees he was cutting fell on him.
Byler was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital then airlifted to Hamot Hospital in Pennsylvania where he succumbed to him injuries Sunday afternoon.

A Buffalo man who stated he had a gun and sought money from a Dollar General clerk was quickly taken into custody Wednesday morning.
Lester L. Santiago, 18, was being held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court on a third-degree attempted robbery charge.
Officers were called around 9:15 a.m. to the 226 Winsor St. Dollar General in Jamestown for a reported armed robbery in progress. Police stated that the Buffalo man reportedly told a clerk that he had a weapon and that he wanted the register open.
The clerk was able to signal another Dollar General employee, who then called 911.

¯ Calvin A. Stallworth, 28, of Dunkirk, was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or greater, moving from lane unsafely, failure to keep right and refusal of roadside breath test. Deputies at 10:26 p.m. on Monday observed a vehicle on Route 60 in the town of Pomfret lose control and leave the road. Stallworth was found to be intoxicated following an investigation and was taken into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Pomfret Town Court later.

An assortment of drugs, including a purported marijuana grow operation, along with ammunition and cash were discovered at a Jamestown residence early Thursday, part of an going narcotics trafficking investigation nicknamed “Operation Crazy Ivan.”
The latest search took place around 6:10 a.m. at 211 Hazzard St., according to the Jamestown Police Department in a news release. Inside investigators found more than 8 ounces of powder cocaine, anabolic steroids, a marijuana growing operation, scales, packaging materials, ammunition, a money counter and $4,587 in money.
The Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force were assisted by members of the Ellicott Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown Police Department SWAT Team and Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.

The Jamestown Police Department on Thursday announced the execution of a warrant at 211 Hazzard St., part of an ongoing investigation nicknamed “Operation Crazy Ivan.”
The search included members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force with the assistance of the Ellicott Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Jamestown Police Department SWAT Team, and Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force.
