Joanie was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on May 11, 1933. She was the only child of Leo Vincent and Helen Leona Brezell Harrington. Her father, Leo was one of eight Harrington siblings from Warren, Pa., including two of his brothers: John and Paul.
She graduated from Jamestown High School, Class of 1951. During her time in high school, she was the secretary of the JHS Junior Cabinet and president of the Theta Gamma Sorority. Following high school, she was a part of the second graduating class from Jamestown Community College in 1953. Upon graduation, she worked as the secretary for Dr. Carlyle C. Ring who was the Superintendent of Jamestown Public Schools.

A conceptual drawing of what the Riverwalk Community Skatepark may look like once constructed. The Jamestown Planning Commission approved the site plan Tuesday.
If all goes to plan, the new Riverwalk Community Skatepark will see its first ollie in August.
The Jamestown Planning Commission this week approved the site plan for the skatepark that will be constructed on the banks of the Chadakoin River near McCrea Point Park.
Prior to site plan approval, the commission heard from Micah Shapiro, Grindline CEO/designer, who showed conceptual drawings of the proposed park. He said the construction of the park will use some existing foundations from the former Jamestown Trolley Building and steel from a former Jamestown Board of Public Utilities coal bridge.

A reopening ceremony of the Carroll Historical Society, located at 5 W. Main St., Frewsburg, will be happening at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The newly renovated Carroll Historical Society building, located behind the town hall, will be one of the highlights of the ceremony, which will also included featured speaker state Sen. George Borrello.

FREWSBURG A new reception desk, floor tiles and exterior siding are just a few of the renovations that will be highlighted during the reopening ceremony of the Carroll Historical Society.
The historical society’s reopening ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at 5 W. Main St., Frewsburg, which is located behind the town hall.
M. Susan (Axelson) Wright
M. Susan (Axelson) Wright, 81, of Jamestown, N.Y., went to be with her Lord and Savior April 1, 2021, at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, N.Y.
She was born November 7, 1939, in Jamestown, N.Y., daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Lindstrom Axelson.
Sue was a 1957 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1960 graduate of Highland Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, N.Y.
After graduation from nursing school Sue earned her RN and worked for Jamestown General Hospital and then WCA Hospital, retiring in 1998 after many years as a surgical nurse in the operating room.
Upon retirement, she enjoyed helping with household sales, knitting, baking, cooking, and celebrating her Swedish heritage. But most of all she spent her life helping others and trying to always do something special for someone.
