On February 21, 2021, at 10:46 a.m., officers from the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to a wooded area in the 3300 block of Plaza Way in Waldorf for the report of an unconscious person in a small body of water.
Officers would like to speak to him in reference to a theft which took place in November, 2020, at the Home Depot in Waldorf. On Sunday, February 7 at 11:10 p.m., officers responded to the area of Wakefield Circle and St. Thomas Drive in Waldorf, for the report of a shooting.
A preliminary investigation revealed three adult males were on a path in a wooded area when an unknown suspect approached and tried to rob them.
The suspect pulled out a gun and fired a shot, which struck one of the victims on his ankle. The suspect then fled on foot.
The victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated for injuries that were not life threatening.
Detectives are looking into the possibility this case could be related to another shooting that occurred on Friday, February 5 in the same area, where a victim was shot multiple times and was flown to an area trauma center. The full article and press release can be found here.

On Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at approximately 3:35 p.m., police responded to Ollie’s Liquor Store located at 6970 Hawthorne Road in La Plata, for the report of an armed robbery.
Dispatchers received a single 911 caller who stated they observed two suspects loading items from the business into a black Ford F-150 pickup truck in the parking lot. A short time later, the truck then fled the scene and the witness entered the store and found an employee behind the counter with their hands bound with zip ties.
Officers arrived on the scene and found one employee and two customers inside of the business.
