Courts roundup: Andover man not guilty of sabotaging car

The latest cases from Basingstoke Magistrates Court. No sabotage AN ANDOVER man has been cleared of sabotaging a woman’s vehicle to make it dangerous but admitted to a charge of damaging it. Daniel Franke had been accused of tampering with the vehicle to make it dangerous in Red Post Bridge on July 14, 2020. But appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Monday, he was found not guilty. He had instead admitted a lesser charge of damaging the vehicle. Franke, of Genoa Court, admitted driving a vehicle on Farm Road in Andover without a licence or insurance on October 1, 2020, as well as possessing cannabis in Stockbridge on the same day.

Paul Howard Thomas, of Andover Road, is charged with making 20,906 Category C indecent images of a child. The 46-year-old, who has not entered a plea, will next appear before Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on July 20. A woman has been fined after she obstructed a police officer carrying out his duties. Rebecca Collett, of Watergate Lane in Bulford, pleaded guilty to assaulting David Cook in Andover on January 29. But further charges of assaulting the police officer, as well as another man, and driving on West Street without due care and attention, were dismissed after no evidence was offered by the prosecution.
