AUSTIN, Texas The health care team at Dell Children s Medical Center just got a little furrier!
On Friday, the hospital announced the launch of its medical dog program emBark!, introducing Junie, Reba and Savannah to the team.
The pups are the hospital s first full-time medical dogs. The highly-trained animals will provide support and motivation for patients and will assist the child life team with support during certain medical procedures. There is an important distinction between a pet therapy program and the medical facility dog program, Dell Children s said in a press release. Pet therapy provides recreation or social visits facilitated by volunteers, visiting 1-2 times a month around the whole hospital. Medical dog programs provide goal-oriented clinical interventions facilitated by full-time, credentialed, employee handlers, working 40 hours a week.

This weekend, Greco will dance in THON 2021 as one half of an independent dancer couple (IDC) from her basement, along with her friend R’Asya Philbert. She said it’s something she’s been dreaming of for the last four years.

Every year Tampa Bay rallies around our local hospitals to provide Christmas for kids.
This year, everything is a little bit different due to COVID-19.
St. Joseph s Children s Hospital hasn t been able to accept in-person donations since March.
That means their toy closet is starting to run low and Christmas is right around the corner. It s all these things that they miss out on and being able to provide that fun, normalcy and excitement and just bring that joy into the hospital. It just really helps elevate their spirits and mindset, says Erin Lewellin, Certified Child Life Specialist at St. Josephâs Childrenâs Hospital.
