An estimated 20 employees of a local manufacturing firm have been tested and placed in isolation after one of their colleagues was diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus.
But the management of Oran Ltd which employs about 100 workers at the main Harbour Road, St Michael plant has sought to make it clear that the affected worker did not contract the disease on the job.
“On Monday, February 1, 2021 we were informed that an employee in a manufacturing department tested positive for COVID-19,” management of the company told
Barbados TODAY this afternoon.
The aluminium windows and doors maker said that in response, it contacted the Ministry of Health, and acted “swiftly” according to the health guidelines by referring “all connected personnel” for testing.

There were 28 new coronavirus (COVID-19) positive results identified on Monday, February 1, from among the 866 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
Thirty-seven people were reported to have recovered yesterday from the viral illness, and were released from isolation. There are now 366 active cases.
The 28 new cases comprise 11 women and 17 men. Seven of them are people who would have been previously sent to the Harrison Point Isolation Facility for assessment.
A person would be sent to Harrison Point for assessment to confirm whether his or her PCR test result is that of a new case or an old case.

Barbados recorded two deaths related to coronavirus (COVID-19) on Sunday, January 31. They were a 55-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman who both had underlying chronic non-communicable diseases.
Their deaths bring the number of people who have passed away from the viral illness to 14.
Thirteen people were diagnosed with COVID-19 on Sunday, out of the 520 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Eleven people were reported to have recovered and were released from isolation.
The number of active cases on the island is 375.
The 13 new positive cases comprise eight women and five men. Seven of them were previously sent to the Harrison’s Point Isolation facility for assessment.
Barbados' active cases for COVID-19 have dropped from 742 as of January 24 to 340 as of January 25.
