The White House says it’s staying out of “inter-party” squabbles on Capitol Hill as the House GOP moves to oust Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership post Wednesday.
She also broke with GOP leaders by embracing a proposed 9/11 style commission to investigate the attack on the U.S. Capitol, which many Republicans see as a partisan enterprise.
Ms. Cheney’s fate appears to be sealed. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise have thrown their support behind Ms. Stefanik and Mr. Trump also has endorsed her.
In a letter to his colleagues this week, Mr. McCarthy said the GOP must not get bogged down in internal disputes and must be unified ahead of the 2022 midterms.
“If we are to succeed in stopping the radical Democrat agenda from destroying our country, these internal conflicts need to be resolved so as to not detract from the efforts of our collective team,” the California Republican said. “Having heard from so many of you in recent days, it’s clear that we need to make a change.”
Is Rodney Davis for Trump or Democracy… is a question soon answered.
Knowing Rodney, he’ll vote to remove her if for no other reason than to keep speculation alive around his plans. He likes being talked about.
Davis doesn’t have a history of taking principled stands, so she’s toast.
Rodney Davis twice voted not to impeach Donald Trump, the second time not voting to impeach a sitting president who incited an insurrection of the government.
In his long history in elected and appointed office, what has Mr. Davis accomplished? Any substantial wins for people across Illinois? Asking for a friend.

House Republican conference chairwoman Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), her brother-in-arms against former President Donald Trump, have been playing directly into the hand of talking points and opposition research that originated with Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The moves they made have helped Democrats in their push to divide Republicans at a time when the GOP seeks unity ahead of the all-important upcoming 2022 midterm elections and as Republicans aim to rein in President Joe Biden’s aggressive leftist agenda.
Axios reported late Monday night that Pelosi has devised a “playbook” aimed at “showing the myriad ways she deals with the GOP herself.”
