Robert Carey, a former Defense Department principal deputy chief information officer, has joined the company as president of its government solutions business and vice president for public sector. A Cloudera spokesperson confirmed Carey’s appointment. The principal deputy CIO post was Carey’s last government service role, which saw him be responsible for almost $38 billion in IT spend and accelerate the transition to the Joint Information Environment. Carey also focused on strengthening cybersecurity and speeding up the adoption of mobile technologies.
