Police Said Shooter At Skyzoo Parking Lot Declined Fist Fight; Pulled Gun And Told Man You re Gonna Die Friday, June 4, 2021 Police said a murder outside the Skyzoo bar on Lee Highway came after a heated argument between two men over a woman that they both had a relationship with.   Police said Eric Charles Grant, II, 32, challenged Kristijian Mrkonjic to a fight, but Mrkonjic told him, Nah, m - f -, you re gonna die. He then pulled a pistol out of his waistband and shot Grant and a man who was with him, 45-year-old Marking Vaughn, multiple times. Grant died after being taken to a hospital.

Grand Jury Got Back To Work Early As COVID Cases Began To Drop Friday, April 30, 2021 The two Hamilton County Grand Juries got back to work early as COVID cases began to lower. Hugh Moore, who heads the Concurrent Grand Jury, said the panel has completed a second term while fully complying with safety rules. He said the new set-up works well except the jury had problems seeing video evidence from witnesses. He asked that the problem be corrected. Silverdale Detention Center Begins To Offer COVID-19 Vaccine To Inmates Wednesday, April 7, 2021 - photo by HCSO Public Relations Division In accordance with CDC guidelines, last Wednesday the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office began to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to inmates at Silverdale Detention Center via their contracted healthcare provider, Quality Correctional Healthcare.  The vaccine was made available to the HCSO by the Hamilton County Health Department and has provided HCSO the opportunity to administer the vaccine to all inmates and corrections personnel who wish to voluntarily take advantage of the vaccine.  “I am very proud of our corrections personnel who continue to go to great lengths each and every day to follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC and our local health department to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in both the Hamilton County Jail and the Silverdale Detention Center,” stated Sheriff Jim Hammond.
