India reported 14,849 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry’s data as of 8 a.m. on Sunday. New Delhi [India], January 24 (ANI): The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has written to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to consider aviation employees as frontline coronavirus workers and prioritise their COVID-19 vaccination.
The letter addressed to the Health Ministry read, Considering that the frontline workers of airlines and airports are also involved in the movement of vaccines, this Ministry recognises the merit in the proposal and requests the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to include front line workers of airlines and airports along with front line workers mentioned in the operational guidelines released on 28th of December 2020.

New Delhi: India’s civil aviation industry professionals will be considered for anti-Covid vaccination during the second stage of the national inoculation drive. The industry has played a crucial role in evacuation of millions and re-connecting supply chains to ferry essentials during the pandemic period.
The sector is considered as crucial for fast economic recovery, as air passengers’ numbers rise and markets re-open. The industry provides the solid logistical backend in supply of vaccines to various hubs and regional centres across the country.
In this context, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has written to the Health Ministry requesting that industry professionals be considered to be inoculated in the second phase.

Seeks linking Godavari-Cauvery rivers, more air services for TN, financial assistance for restoration of damages caused due to cyclones
Linking of Godavari-Cauvery rivers, more air services for Tamil Nadu and financial assistance for the restoration of damages caused due to cyclones were some of the demands put forth by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Tuesday.
Palaniswami requested Modi to expedite linking of the Peninsular Rivers. The National Water Development Agency prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Godavari-Cauvery (Grand Anicut) Link as Phase-I project of the Peninsular Rivers linkage and sent it to the States concerned for their comments during March, 2019. He also requested the Centre for financial support for the ‘Nadanthai Vaazhi Cauvery’ programme to restore the sacred River Cauvery and its main tributaries.
