All passengers arriving from the UK are now being tested for COVID-19 at Delhi airport, Health Minister Satyendar Jain told reporters.

Jain has also appealed to those who have recently come from the UK to monitor their health and go for tests at the slightest of COVID-like symptoms, and inform the government.
Amid mounting concern over a new strain of COVID-19 detected in the UK, the Delhi government on Tuesday said it will visit the houses of passengers who have arrived here recently from the UK to check their health condition.
Two passengers from the UK were found positive for COVID-19 after they arrived at the airport here, health department officials said on Tuesday. A flight carrying 222 passengers from the UK arrived at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport on Sunday night, they said. Twenty-five passengers did not have COVID reports with them. So they were taken to a nearby quarantine centre, and their coronavirus tests were conducted. Two tested positive, the West Bengal Health and Family Welfare Department official said. According to COVID-19 protocols, all international passengers coming to India will have to remain in isolation for seven days.

Amid the emergence of the new COVID-19 strain, the government has issued a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the air travellers coming from the United Kingdom. The Centre had on Monday suspended all flights from and to the UK from December 22 to December 31.
