Law enforcement agencies in Limestone County reveal memorial for fallen officers

The men died while serving Athens and Limestone County.
They served with Athens Police, the Limestone County Sheriff s Office and Alabama State Troopers.
The courthouse is bathed in blue light to honor the officers, but the big reveal Thursday night was actually a stone memorial. It s etched with all of the fallen officers names.
Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks says he hopes this is someplace people will come to remember their sacrifices.

On April 20, deputies arrested at 15-year-old from Athens on a manslaughter charge. Officials say the teenager was not related to the infant.
It began on April 8, when officials with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office say they received a call for emergency medical services at a home on Myrtlewood Drive. The call was about a 3-month-old infant having difficulty breathing.

A teen from Athens is charged with manslaughter for the death of an infant.
The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call for emergency medical services on Apr. 8 to respond to a home on Myrtlewood Drive where a three-month-old infant was having difficulty breathing.
The infant was taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital for treatment where CT scan results revealed severe head trauma, according to the sheriff’s office. The infant was then transported to The University of Alabama at Birmingham Children’s Hospital for more treatment.

A teen from Athens was arrested Tuesday and charged with manslaughter in the death of a three-month-old infant that died earlier this month, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies responded April 8 to a home on Myrtlewood Drive in Athens on a call of an infant having trouble breathing.
The infant was taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital, where CT scans showed the baby sustained head trauma.
The infant was then taken to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham on April 9 and died the next day, the sheriff’s office said.
