A Hinesville woman was wounded when gun fire rang out during a Sunday morning card game in Hinesville.
According to an incident report filed by Hinesville Police Officer, Julius Davila, the Liberty County 911 center received a hang up call where screaming was heard in the background prior to the call being disconnected.
The dispatcher said the call came in at 2:44 a.m. Jan. 10.
Using 9-1-1 technology the dispatcher was able to triangulate the cell phone call to an area around E.G. Mile Parkway where an officer spotted a silver vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver described as a 27-year-old female, appeared to be in distress according to the reporting officer who said her facial expression tipped him off that something was wrong.

Due to an overwhelming response from the community the Coastal Health District is pausing further vaccine scheduling. The Health Department had opened up phase to allowing anyone over 65 and all first responders to be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
But on Monday Jan. 11, the Coastal Health District had to stop taking further calls for the vaccine.
“Based on the number of calls taken to date, health departments in all eight counties have enough requests to schedule appointments through February and, in some cases, into March,” their press release said. “To ensure we have adequate vaccine to fulfill appointment requests, including second doses, the Coastal Health District has temporarily paused appointment scheduling for new requests. Liberty Regional Medical Center received their COVID-19 vaccines on Dec. 23, 2020 and began administering it to staff members as well as the elderly who live at Coastal Manor Nursing Home in Ludowici. The first shots were administered Monday Dec. 28, 2020.
Christina McCain M.D., LRMC Chief of Medical Staff and General Surgeon, said the hospital received 300 doses of the Moderna vaccine on Dec 23.

Another incident happened the following day.
According to Hinesville Police Traffic Accident Investigator, Aaron Brandt, a woman was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center after her 15 year old daughter drove into the Exxon Handyland gas station on 2570 Highway 196 in Hinesville Dec. 23.
The teen was driving on a learner’s permit and was pulling into the parking lot from Highway 196 when she hit the gas pedal thinking she was hitting the brakes.
The impact caused portions of the wall to buckle and caused interior damage to the building. Several cases or beer flew off the shelves inside a refrigeration unit.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. and is under investigation.
