Murder in Maple Heights-Davon Townsend Accused Of Killing Christian Merritt

Davon Townsend (Booking photo by Mayfield Heights Police) MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH - On Thursday 4/1/21 at 10:39 p.m., Mayfield Heights officers were dispatched to 6509 Marsol Rd (The Drake Apartments) on a report of an unwanted guest. Prior to officers arrival, we received numerous reports of gunshots being fired at the location. Officers arrived on scene and found a deceased male, identified as 29 year old Christian Merritt from Maple Heights. Davon Townsend, a 21 year old Cleveland resident, is currently in custody on a murder charge. This incident remains an ongoing investigation with the assistance of The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
