69 overdose deaths in March put Cuyahoga County on pace to match 2017′s record number of deaths

The ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County distributed fentanyl test strips to local businesses in the community. The test strips can detect when other drugs are mixed with fentanyl, a powerful opioid linked to a lion s share of drug deaths in recent years.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cuyahoga County reported 69 overdose deaths in March, and a surge of overdose deaths to begin the year has the county on pace to eclipse the record number of overdose deaths it reported back in 2017.

State-of-the-art forensic testing will the used in an effort to unravel the shooting death of a man whose partially dismembered body was found stuffed in a barrel over 50 years ago in Cleveland.
The man’s death, authorities believe, may have ties to the Black Panther Party, which was active in the 1960s in Cleveland.
The victim was a young, black man who had been shot nine times. His body was found inside a 55-gallon barrel in the 3100 block of East 82nd Street.
