At least two Christians were sought out and killed by jihadists who invaded a town in Nigeria’s northern Yobe State on 23 April.
Around 2,000 residents of Geidam fled their homes after members of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) took control of the town, looting and burning stores.
“Everybody is running away because the insurgents have started killing people who are Christians and those with Western education,” said a resident.
“So far they have killed two Christians and two Muslim school teachers. They went to their homes and slaughtered them,” said another local.
A Barnabas contact said that one of the murdered Christians was a member of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA). The church secretary said they were struggling to recover his body for burial. “Our members at Geidam are now displaced,” he said. “We need your prayers.”

The leadership of the Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA has cautioned the federal government against protecting the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami but relieve him of his appointment if he fails to resign as failure to do so shows the President Muhammadu Buhari government is complicit in the divisive propaganda of dangerous elements of the society as well as the murderous activities of rampaging terrorists.
ECWA President, Rev. Stephen Panya while reading the communique issued at the end of the Church’s 68th General Church Council, GCC in Jos on Friday said the Minister should also be thoroughly investigated and, in the event, he is found guilty, be prosecuted in line with the laws of the nation.

Isa-Ibrahim-Pantami
Tunde Olusunle argues that Isa Pantami’s appointment as minister calls to question the screening of nominees for public office
Isa Ali Ibrahim, equally referred to as “Sheikh Pantami” comes to you as what the “soro soke” generation will call a “fresh boy.” From what you see in his most frequently used media photograph, he is fair complexioned, has chubby cheeks, wears a smile and adorns a thin-rimmed pair of glasses. He is a young man as well, having been born in 1972.
His profile would also, most probably impress you. He obtained a university degree in the much sought-after Computer Science course in 2003, before adding a masters in the same institution and capping these with a doctorate from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland. He subsequently attended short courses in a number of universities and institutes in the United States of America, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
