MAJOR UPDATE 12PM: Two sleeping men have been saved from absolute peril after a fire broke out at a Moffat Beach residence with flames as high as 6m when first responders arrived. Five Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to calls of a structure fire at a Grigor Street West address about 8.40am on Sunday. A man has been stabbed in the head after interrupting a burglar trying to break into his Sunshine Coast unit.
The man arrived at his townhouse on Mary Street, Nambour, just after 7pm on Saturday and disturbed a man who was trying to break in.
Police said the men fought and the 53-year-old resident was stabbed in the head and arm before his assailant fled.
Critical care paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but non-life-threatening condition.
