The Chemung County Sheriffâs Office announced April 17 that multiple arrests were made as a result of a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on County Route 60 in the Town of Chemung.Â
On Friday, April 16, at 8:47 p.m., deputies were dispatched to County Route 60 in the Town of Chemung for a person found lying in the roadway with severe head injuries.Â
Deputies learned that 38-year-old Brandon E. Lane of Dininny Road, Town of Chemung, had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene following the collision.Â
Lane was transported to the Robert Packer Hospital by Greater Valley Ambulance, where he was pronounced deceased.Â

State Sen. Tom O Mara, R-Big Flats, issued a reminder for residents that April 24 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Law enforcement agencies across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions will operate drop-off centers to allow for the safe and responsible disposal of unused prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Chemung County Sheriff s Office will accept unwanted prescription drugs at the Southport Volunteer Fire Department, 1001 Carl St., Elmira, and the West Elmira Fire Department, 1299 W. Water St., Elmira.
