The Kaduna State Government said on Tuesday that three persons were killed in separate attacks by suspected bandits in Lere and Birnin Gwari Local Government Areas of the state.
Mr Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, who made the disclosure in a statement in Kaduna, said the incident happened on Monday.
Aruwan said the military, under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), had reported an attack by armed bandits at Warsa Piti, in Mariri District of Lere local government area. Quoting an eyewitness, the military stated that the attackers numbering about six, who masked themselves and dressed in black, invaded the community on Monday night and began shooting sporadically.
At least two people have been killed by bandits in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), the attack took place at Warsa Piti, in Mariri District of Lere local government area.
Confirming the incident, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the attackers numbering about six, masked and dressed in black attire, invaded the community late on Monday night and began shooting sporadically.
He explained that the troops on receiving a distress call mobilised to the location and engaged the assailants who then fled into the forest.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has raided some drug spots in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and arrested 14 suspects.
The FCT commander of NDLEA, Mr Lawan Hamisu, said this in a statement issued by the Head of Public Affairs of the agency, Mr Jonah Achema on Tuesday in Abuja, NAN reports.
Hamisu said the different quantities of Cocaine, Codeine, Rohypnol and Cannabis Sativa were recovered from the suspects.
According to him, the 14 persons arrested are being investigated in connection with the recovery of 34.8 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa.
“In the FCT, some of the drug spots raided at the weekend include Wuse Zone 4 and Wuse Zone 5; Wuse by Banex Plaza and Garki by Torabora.

Military authorities said yesterday that troops of Operation Delta Safe dismantled 13 Illegal refining sites set up by oil bunkerers in the Niger Delta region.
The military also recovered 9,856.1 barrels of stolen crude, 1,339,000 litres of illegally refined diesel or Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and 500,000 litres of kerosene or DPK while 24 suspected oil thieves were nabbed.
Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, Coordinator, Directorate of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General John Enenche, said troops of Operation Delta Safe sustained the aggressive fight against economic sabotage in the South-South zone.
Enenche, who spoke during the weekly briefing on military operations at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), said the operation which was conducted between 14 to 20 January 2021, also covered illegal maritime activities.

Retired African American General Lloyd Austin is now in charge of the U.S. Department of Defense.
On Friday, Jan. 22, the Senate confirmed President Joe Biden’s Secretary of Defense pick, making Gen. Austin the first African American to serve in that key strategic federal government leadership role.
“I pledge to fight hard to rid our ranks of racists and extremists,” Gen. Austin pronounced during his confirmation hearings.
He also pledged to overturn several discriminatory bans on military service put in place by the previous administration.
