Cape Coral pool-cue craftsman is a rarity in Southwest Florida Craig Handel
Dave Sucher may have retired as a machinist and master tattoo artist, but there’s one thing he continues to do: make pool cues.
Sucher and his wife Peggy moved to Southwest Florida from Oahu, Hawaii, in November 2019. And when they bought a home in Cape Coral, Dave needed a three-car garage so he could have a shop.
“I never stopped, it’s always been a side job, a second job,” he said. “It’s therapeutic, I love it. There are aspects that drive me crazy. I paid a thousand dollars for a new program (to design cues). The electronic frustrations are crazy.”
Southwest Florida waterways in the spotlight with Nautical Expo Craig Handel
Jim Griffiths believes in this area so much, he’s willing to invest thousands of dollars to bring Lee Civic Center alive again while calling attention to Southwest Florida’s waterways.
In a way, Griffiths, 55, is saying thank you for all the guidance and support he received when his own life could’ve unraveled after undergoing one family heartbreak after another.
“This area is such a massive boating community, but it doesn’t get the attention like the Keys or Fort Lauderdale,” Griffiths said. “Pine Island Sound has the largest population of bottle-nose dolphins, miles of beautiful beaches and protected inland waterways, almost 50 restaurants you can visit by boat and it’s also the tarpon capital of the world.
