Police found class A drug at Ellesmere Port man s home

AN Ellesmere Port man has admitted possessing a class A drug at his house. Gareth Edward Clorley, 42, of Thornton Road, Ellesmere Port, pleaded guilty to possessing a class A drug and a class B drug when he appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, May 21. Prosecuting, Elle Battle-Kennedy said Clorley s home was searched by police, who were attending in relation to a separate matter, on August 3, 2018. He was found to have quantities of MDMA, a class A drug, and cannabis, a class B drug. Defending, Howard Jones said the amount of drugs found at Clorley s property was small. Magistrates fined Clorley £200, plus a victim surcharge of £30.

Travellers family told to leave second Chester site in as many months

Cheshire West and Chester Council successfully obtained a court order from Chester Magistrates Court ordering the family to leave the site, having failed to comply with an eviction notice. But the family didn t move far, and set up an unauthorised encampment half a mile away at the grounds of the Fun4All soft play centre on Hartford Way, off Bumpers Lane. The centre is due to reopen on May 20. Cheshire West and Chester Council has therefore gone through the same procedure as before, serving the family with an eviction notice and, when the family failed to comply with it by 5pm on May 1, applying for a removal order from Chester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 12.

Out-of-control dog bit woman in face at Chester home

Chester Magistrates Court. A CHESTER man has admitted owning a dog which bit a woman in the face, forcing her to require hospital treatment. Matthew Highley, 40, of Edna Street, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, May 7 and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to the charge of being the owner of a dog that was dangerously out of control causing injury. Prosecuting, Michael O Kane said it was on New Year s Eve, 2020, when a friend of a relative of Highley, Leilani Ting, visited Highley s home. At the property was an 11-year-old small- to medium-sized cross-breed dog called Cosmo. Highley explained the dog had been abandoned in Romania and was adopted, and had warned Ms Ting not to look the dog in the eyes . Ms Ting was given the impression the dog was not particularly safe , and had growled when someone put their foot on the table during a previous visit.

Careless driver who smashed car near Chester after police pursuit sentenced

A DRIVER who led police on a pursuit towards Chester crashed at high speed on a bend. Lee Chadwick, 32, had previously pleaded guilty to careless driving, driving without insurance or a licence, failing to stop when told to be police, and failing to give a breath test. The court heard then he had gone at speeds in excess of 100mph on the A540 Parkgate Road, Chester. Appearing for his sentencing at Chester Magistrates Court on Monday, April 26, Chadwick, of Arbor Avenue, Burnage, Manchester, was handed a suspended jail term. Prosecutor Michael O Kane said it was on the morning of October 29, 2020 when Chadwick was pursued by police and crashed into a chevron sign warning of a bend, near Crabwall Manor Hotel.
