Late-night gunshots into SW Bend home lead to CERT Team call-out, arrest
(Update: Adding information)
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Two gunshots fired into a southwest Bend home late Thursday night led to the call-out of Central Oregon’s SWAT team, the eventual surrender and arrest of a nearby resident and a raid that turned up several guns, police said Friday.
Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to a home in the 20000 block of SW Crystal Creek Court on a report of a master bedroom window being shot out, Lt. Clint Burleigh said. An investigating officer found a bullet lodged in an interior wall of the home and another bullet close to the broken window, he said.
Bend, OR – A Bend police officer is under investigation after a keychain he was carrying on duty on Saturday offended someone.
A picture of Bend Police Corporal Josh Spano on duty on May 1 was posted to social media and showed a keychain with the phrase “molon labe” sticking out of the pocket of his tactical vest, The Bulletin reported.
The phrase is Greek for “come and take them.”
It references an exchange the night before the Battle of Thermopylae when Persian King Xerxes ordered the Spartans to hand over their weapons and King Leonidas replied “molon labe.”
It is a popular military slogan used as a motto by the U.S. Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT).
