Spike Strips & K-9 Help Capture Terrebonne Man
A 23 year old Terrebonne man was finally taken into custody after a police pursuit that started in Bend early this morning and ended with spike strips deployed and a Bend Police K-9 biting the suspect. Elk Meadow Elementary School and Pine Ridge Elementary School were also notified to be on locked down during the incident.
Shawn Ray Ison is being held on a list of charges after a citizen reported a suspicious vehicle in the area of 494 NW Lava Rd. in the City of Bend. The caller thought the driver of the vehicle might have been intoxicated. A Bend Police Officer responded and the vehicle immediately left at a high rate of speed. The Bend Police Officer did not pursue, but was able to give out a vehicle description along with a license plate. This information was passed along to local law enforcement agencies.
Seven People Rescued On Cascade Lakes Highway
Seven people in three cars were rescued by a Deschutes County Search & Rescue crew on the Cascade Lakes Highway Sunday night. Authorities received a call around 10:00 p.m. from Eric Valentine stating he had gotten his vehicle stuck in the snow while trying to rescue his nephew who was also stuck in the snow.
Valentine reported his nephew, Brandon Dustin, had left Lapine around 5:00 pm and took the “back way” to Eugene. The nephew, Dustin had planned on taking US Highway 372 over to US Highway 58, using a shortcut to Eugene. After finding snowmobiles traveling the highway and getting advice from the riders that the highway was closed, Dustin attempted to turn around and became stuck in the snow. Valentine responded to help and also became stuck in the snow.

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) Emotions ran high Saturday morning at the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, as a pair of heroes were honored for their life-saving actions after a fiery crash east of Bend last year.
Kurtis Goldsworthy and Ray Scheradella, two of the four men responsible for saving Timothy Dunn’s life, received life-saving awards.
Dunn’s daughter, Allison, also was there, in support.
On June 10 of last year, a two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 20E about 50 miles east of Bend.
Sisters fire determined to be arson Wednesday, February 17, 2021 3:51 PM A fire that damaged a structure in downtown Sisters earlier this month has been determined to be arson.
According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies with the City of Sisters were among those dispatched to a residential house fire at 152 N. Larch St. in Sisters on the night of Saturday, February 13. Personnel from the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District quickly extinguished the blaze, assisted by firefighters from Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District and the Black Butte Ranch Rural Fire Protection District.
An investigator from the Oregon State Fire Marshall’s Office and a Detective from the Oregon State Police Arson Unit responded to the scene and conducted an origin-and-cause investigation at the residence.
