Solano DA releases new details in deadly CHP shooting along I-80
An outside review of the circumstances that led to the shooting continues.
Two California Highway Patrol officers investigating reports of a single-vehicle crash shortly after 10:30 p.m. Jan. 30 on westbound I-80 west of Dixon Avenue in the area of Oday Road, which fronts I-80 for a stretch between Dixon and Vacaville, shot the man in the vehicle after he pulled a loaded gun on them, authorities report.
The names of the two officers were not released.
District Attorney Krishna Abrams’ office issued an update Friday that states the man was armed with a handgun and drew it on the officers before they shot him.
The Solano County District Attorney’s Office has identified the armed man who was fatally shot by officers near Dixon over the weekend as 29-year-old Karl Walker.

Sacramento, California - Robert James Hanna, 38, of Elk Grove, was sentenced to eight years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced.
According to court documents, on Oct. 4, 2019, several witnesses called 911 to report a fight in progress at an intersection in Vacaville. The callers reported that Hanna and another man and two women were involved in a melee, and one of the witnesses saw a gun fall from Hanna’s clothing during the incident. Court records state that Hanna hit the man in the face several times, and at least one of the victims reported that Hanna threatened to shoot him. Hanna and a female companion fled the scene and were arrested at a nearby home-improvement store moments later. The female companion had a 9 mm pistol in her pants at the time. The
DA: CHP officers threatened with firearm before fatally shooting man
FAIRFIELD The Solano County District Attorney’s Office reported Monday that the man who was shot and killed Saturday near Dixon had threatened the CHP officers with a loaded firearm.
The California Highway Patrol began receiving 911 calls at approximately 10:31 p.m. about a solo car crash on Interstate 80 west of Dixon Avenue, the District Attorney’s Office reports in a statement about the incident. CHP officers responded to the scene to assist and investigate the reported traffic accident.
Preliminary reports indicated the incident occurred in the area of Oday Road, which fronts I-80 for a short stretch between Dixon and Vacaville.
