Start-up Alife is operating in the intersection of AI and IVF

By Chloe Kent 13 May 2021 (Last Updated May 12th, 2021 17:18) Medical Device Network talks to Alife Health CEO Paxton Maeder-York about the growing role of AI during IVF procedures. New Zealand trials Covid-19 detection tech ëlarm at border

By Chloe Kent 23 Apr 2021 (Last Updated April 22nd, 2021 17:25) New Zealand border workers have begun trialling a Datamine app designed to detect Covid-19 before the user develops any noticeable symptoms – but can this technology stand up to scrutiny? As new Covid-19 cases in New Zealand are virtually only seen in arriving international travellers, border staff arguably face the most risk of exposure to the virus. Credit: James D. Morgan/Getty Images Share Article Border officials in New Zealand have begun to trial an app designed to detect Covid-19 before the first symptoms of the disease arise, known as ëlarm. The platform has been developed by artificial intelligence (AI) company Datamine, and links with smart watches and other wearable devices to measure metrics like heart rate, temperature or oxygen saturation.
