Authorities urged to review PMC Act
July 13, 2021
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has rejected the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) Act and demanded its review by the authorities concerned.
This was stated by the PMA Secretary-General Dr Qaiser Sajjad during a press conference.
He said the government had passed the bill in a hurry and examination of MBBS doctors for the National License Certificate (NLC) is also a sign of distrust in educational institutions.
He said they would not only protest against the Act but would also file a petition in the court.
Dr Qaiser Sajjad, while criticising the bill, said the bill of the Pakistan Medical Commission was passed within minutes from the assembly.
Strict laws, heavy fines needed as current coronavirus lockdown is useless, says PMA

Terming the lockdown policy to contain the spread of Covid-19 in Pakistan “useless”, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) demanded of the federal and provincial governments on Monday to come up with a uniform policy to prevent the spread of the infectious disease and to use deterrence by imposing heavy fines on people violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
The association also demanded of the politicians to immediately suspend their political activities, avoid public gatherings and use their influence to ensure that people follow the SOPs, saying that Covid-19 cases were still very high and dozens of people were dying on a daily basis.
