Magnitude 4.1 earthquake strikes near Rumoi, Rumoi-shi, Hokkaido, Japan

Japan s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED) reported a magnitude 4.1 quake in Japan near Rumoi, Rumoi-shi, Hokkaido, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit after midnight on Thursday 27 May 2021 at 12:13 am local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 254.3 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.7 quake in Japan near Hachinohe, Hachinohe Shi, Aomori, only 17 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Thursday 27 May 2021 at 7:04 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred 34 minutes ago 102 km southwest of San Nicolas, Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 33 km beneath the epicenter near San Nicolas, Zambales, Central Luzon, Philippines, after midnight on Monday 24 May 2021 at 12:41 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
