Just 8 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near San Antonio de los Cobres, Departamento de Los Andes, Salta, Argentina. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Sunday 23 May 2021 at 3:37 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 176 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include San Antonio de los Cobres (pop. 4,000) located 90 km from the epicenter.

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake near Akita, Akita Shi, Japan, was reported only 11 minutes ago by Japan s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate to considerable depth of 174.5 km beneath the epicenter early morning on Monday 24 May 2021 at 1:27 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

A very shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported in the morning near Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA.
