Magnitude 4.6 earthquake strikes near Mikuni, Sakai, Fukui, Japan

An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred in the evening on Friday 16 April 2021 at 9:39 pm local time near Mikuni, Sakai, Fukui, Japan, as reported by Japan s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a great depth of 383.7 km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

A shallow magnitude 4.5 earthquake was reported early morning near Muroran, Muroran-shi, Hokkaido, Japan.
According to Japan s National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), the quake hit on Friday 16 April 2021 at 5:47 am local time at a shallow depth of 16.1 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

4.8 quake 16 Apr 8:17 pm (GMT +8)
An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred only 12 minutes ago 66 km southeast of Sarangani, Philippines, Indonesia s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 127 km beneath the epicenter near Sarangani, Davao Occidental, Davao, Philippines, in the evening on Friday 16 April 2021 at 8:17 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.8 as well.
