Chennai, May 15 : Hundreds of relatives of Covid-19 infected persons converged at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium here on Saturday to buy the Remdesivir injection.
Their one immediate objective was to get the vial so that their loved ones are saved.
The Tamil Nadu government had shifted the Remdesivir sale venue from Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital to Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium to reduce crowds at the hospital. It is total confusion here. No [signage] boards were put up to guide people, a person told reporters.

‘No separate queue for those who already registered for the drug’ Utter chaos and confusion prevailed at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Saturday when the sale of Remdesivir began. People had started waiting in the queue from Friday night without following any COVID-19 safety protocol. There was a stampede-like situation and people sat on road roko demanding the distribution of the drug.

CUTTACK: For better crowd management and to combat the spread of Covid-19, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is all set to turn Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium as a vaccination centre. As per CMC, a massive inoculation drive will start on Monday at the stadium.
“As a large number of people will turn up for vaccination, we have chosen Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium for better management of Covid inoculation in the city,” CMC commissioner Ananya Das said.
“The place is spacious, more people can be vaccinated and Covid guidelines can be followed properly,” she added.
A team of officials from the CMC, including deputy commissioner Samita Sarkar and Sanjibita Ray have been engaged to oversee the drive.
