First Coast News spoke with John Guns, pastor of St. Paul Church of Jacksonville who says it’s a painful thing to see and hear.  The consistency of it being on certain sides of town and with certain demographics is where the real concern is, said Guns.  Guns says these issues need to be resolved. “We have to decide or continue to decide as a city that we’re going to aggressively attack the factors that’s causing this and attempt to change the climate, said Guns.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said police responded about 12:05 a.m. to gunshots on Monroe Street near James Weldon Johnson Park. While en route, officers were notified of a car crash two blocks south at Laura and Forsyth streets. That’s where police said they found two teens shot in the legs. Police said they were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said a third teenager was also shot. Police said that teen was able to drive to a hospital.

Officers responded shortly before 11:30 p.m. to the first shooting on University Boulevard North, just south of Merrill Road. Police said they found a man, described as being between 20 and 30 years old, suffering from several gunshot wounds. Police said he died at the scene. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators spent much of the night looking for witnesses, video and evidence in the area. Police said they had no suspect information.

The Jacksonville Sheriffs Office said it responded about 5:45 a.m. to the shooting on West 4th Street at Madison Street and found the man with a single gunshot wound. He was expected to be OK. Police said the shooter, described as a man between 20 and 30 years old, was last seen running from the scene.
