Moses Wright Named ACC Player of the Week

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s Moses Wright was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday in voting by a panel of 15 members of the media. It is the second time Wright has received the honor this season, having done so in December. It is the third time a Tech player has been so honored this season; Jose Alvarado was named in early January. The 6-9 senior forward posted double-doubles in both Tech games last week as Tech captured a 16-point road win over No. 16 Virginia Tech, Tech’s fourth win over a top-25 team this season, and a come-from-behind home win over Syracuse to go three games over .500 in ACC play for the first time since March 3, 1996. Wright’s 57 points were the second-most in back-to-back games by an ACC player this season.

Texas A&M defeated the No. 5 South Carolina Gamecocks 65-57 on Sunday to secure the title. Senior forward N’dea Jones had 16 points and 14 rebounds in the contest to surpass 1,000 career rebounds and reach 1,010, which is good for first place in Texas A&M history, ahead of former record-holder Anriel Howard (1,002).

Pumputis & Ferraro Make Podium on Final Day of ACC s – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Caio Pumputis and Christian Ferraro, while also garnering a new school record in the 400 free relay. At the conclusion of the weekend’s competition Tech placed seventh on the team leaderboard with 639 points, a two spot improvement from last years’ finish. Overall, Tech made podium six times this weekend and saw a pair of ACC champions crowned in the 200 IM (Pumputis) and 200 free (ÜNLÜ). A trio of Yellow Jackets reached finals on day four as Pumputis, Ferraro & true freshman Batur ÜNLÜ all qualified for their respective events in prelims. Pumputis had a silver medal effort in the 200 breast grabbing an NCAA A cut mark of 1:51.81. Pumputis & ÜNLÜ both made it to three finals events individually throughout the weekend, as ÜNLÜ had a 12th-place outing in the 100 free. Ferraro followed his classmate up with another NCAA A cut and program best time of 1:40.64 to earn bronze in the 200 fly.
