Noah Norton and
Connor Howe each fired 4-under-par 68s on Friday, pacing Georgia Tech to a 12-under-par round of 276 and second place after the opening round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The Yellow Jackets got four subpar scores toward its strong finish to the opening round.
TECH LINEUP – Tech, the 39
th-ranked team in the nation according to Golfstat, made a strong push in the final holes of the round, getting four birdies on the par-15 15
th hole, and a pair of birdies and an eagle at the 18
th with only two bogeys in that stretch.
Norton, a senior from Chico, Calif., had the eagle at the last, finishing off his second-best round of the spring with no bogeys after the opening hole. Howe, a junior from Ogden, Utah, who shot an opening 67 in Tech’s last tournament, birdied three of his first five holes Friday and two of his last five. Both players are tied for third place individually.

Michael Devoe led all scorers with 29 points as Georgia Tech dominated Miami in an 87-60 victory Saturday afternoon in the Watsco Center. Devoe led three Yellow Jackets in double-figures, including
Moses Wright who finished with 14 points to surpass the 1,000-career points mark.
The 27-point win marked the largest margin of victory by Georgia Tech in an Atlantic Coast Conference game in program history. The Jackets gained momentum with a strong first half as Miami won the second half, 42-39, but wasn’t able to significantly cut into Tech’s 30-point halftime advantage.
Georgia Tech (11-8, 7-6 ACC) held a convincing 48-18 lead at halftime, marking the highest scoring half for the Jackets in an ACC game this season. Devoe and Wright combined for 26 points as Tech shot 63.3 percent (19-30) in the half, while limiting the Hurricanes (7-13, 3-12 ACC) to a 28.6 percent (6-21) effort from the floor. Jackets Roll Past Florida State, 62-48
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Georgia Tech completed the regular season sweep of Florida State Thursday night, taking home a 62-48 victory in the Donald L. Tucker Center. Three Yellow Jackets finished in double figures paced by Lorela Cubaj and Nerea Hermosa, moving Tech to 13-5 overall and 11-4 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Cubaj scored six straight points in the second quarter as Tech shot 66.7 percent (6-9) in the frame to hold the lead at halftime, 30-22. Cubaj led all scorers at intermission, posting 10 points in the first half, while Florida State was limited to a 29.4 percent shooting effort in the first 20 minutes, including a 17.6 (3-17) showing the second quarter. FSU scored nine of its 22 first-half points on second chances, outrebounding the Jackets 24-14 in the first half, including a 12-3 offensive rebound edge.

th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team concludes this three-match homestand this weekend, opening Atlantic Coast Conference play welcoming Miami and No. 6 Florida State to the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both matches are slated for a noon first serve.
