JEFFERSON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff s Office, deputies are investigating a homicide.
Deputies say they were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of Caney Road near White Hall on Wednesday just after 9:30 p.m. in regards to an armed disturbance.
Upon arrival, deputies found an unresponsive man, later identified as 40-year old Joe Stewart. He was pronounced dead by the deputy coroner.
Stewart s body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Deputies arrested 61-year-old Varlon Ray Cummings on charges of first degree murder.
The investigation is ongoing by the Jefferson County Sheriff s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

On Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 9:37 p.m., Jefferson County deputies were dispatched to a residence located on Caney Road near White Hall in regards to an armed disturbance.
Upon arrival they discovered an unresponsive man who was later pronounced dead by the coroner.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Joe Stewart, and his body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
A person of interest has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

BAGLEY The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified a woman killed in a house fire in Bagley on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
Christi Lynn Dyer, 47, of Bagley, was found near the front door of the home.
Bagley Fire Department and Dora Fire Department responded to the fire in the 7600 block of Robbins place, just after 3 p.m.
The Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

TOWN OF PAMELIA, N.Y. (WWNY) - The Jefferson County Sheriffâs Office arrested a Geneva woman Wednesday morning after she allegedly fled a deputy and crashed a stolen vehicle.
Officials said 26 year old Hali Spinnichia was driving a pickup truck on Route 342 in Calcium shortly before 2 a.m. when a deputy witnessed vehicle and traffic violations.
The deputy activated lights and sirens to try to pull the pickup over.
However, Spinnichia allegedly kept going, drove through a red light, and failed to negotiate the intersection of routes 342 and 12.
