Jimmy Millhollin, a real estate broker, Navy veteran and former chairman of the Flagler Chamber of Commerce, died Jan. 30, due to complications from COVID-19. His wife, Annette Gardinal, wrote on Facebook: “My heart has shattered. The love of my life, my best friend and husband of 33 years has passed away.”
She went on to say that Millhollin had been diagnosed with a rare cancer called mantle cell lymphoma in February 2019 and was in and out of hospitals since October 2020. He was in remission, but “his immune system was compromised, making him an easy target for COVID-19,” she wrote.
Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Emerald Coast is one of 27 Florida hospitals that soon will begin issuing COVID-19 vaccinations to people under 65 who are considered extremely vulnerable if infected with the coronavirus.
According to information provided by Mike Burke, spokesman for Ascension Sacred Heart, the Florida Department of Health is doling out 28,500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for the initiative. Along with Ascension Sacred Heart s location in Panama City, its hospitals in Pensacola and Miramar Beach also will receive a shipment of shots earmarked for high-risk patients. Ascension Sacred Heart has received 3,000 doses with plans to administer 1,000 in Milton on Wednesday, 1,000 in Destin and South Walton over two days this week and 1,000 in Panama City on Friday, Burke wrote in an email Monday.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - An officer with the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles was injured in an accidental shooting Tuesday.
According to Matthew Estes,
communications director for the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles, the officer accidentally discharged his firearm while inside the Montgomery field office. The shooting resulted in a round being fired and impacting the officer.
Montgomery police Capt. Saba Coleman said Montgomery police officers did report to the field office. The victim had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
