Sheriff: Guards assaulted, attacked with hand sanitizer and locked up by inmates prior to escape

GRAFTON, N.D. Walsh County Sheriff Ron Jurgens said it all started just after 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 28, when a female corrections officer walked into the cell of 30-year-old Karlin Dahl and 29-year-old Bo Carrier as a routine cell check. They were in the same cell following their arrest earlier in the week after a high-speed chase.
About 72% of state inmates have been fully vaccinated against the disease as of Friday, May 21, said Dave Krabbenhoft, the director of the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. That inoculation rate within prisons ranks as one of the nation's highest, said Prison Policy Alliance spokesperson Wanda Bertram.
