A man who allowed two handguns to be hidden inside a Henry Hoover in his van at the height of Dublin gangland activity has been given a suspended four year sentence.
Stephen O Connor (45) was approached by a criminal figure while he was “incredibly vulnerable” and agreed to hold onto the firearms in order to “get them off his back”, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard.
O Connor, of Carndonagh Lawns, Donaghmede, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of firearms at his address on September 7, 2019. The offence carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years. O Connor has no previous convictions.

A man who was found with nearly half a million euro worth of cocaine and heroin in his bedroom has been jailed for four and a half years.
John Kelly (29) also had 17 shotgun cartridges hidden in a sock, which he told gardaí he had found while out walking and which he was planning to make fireworks with.
Kelly, with an address at Parlickstown Green, Mulhuddart, Dublin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to one count of possessing cocaine and heroin for sale or supply at his home address on September 21, 2018. Another count of possessing ammunition was taken into consideration.

Man who dropped a bag containing over €210,000 of heroin after he spotted gardaí is jailed

A man who dropped a bag containing over €210,000 of heroin when he spotted gardaí on patrol has been jailed for six years.
Joseph Brady (30) attempted to flee from gardaí, but was caught and further deals of heroin were found on his person. He was also carrying over €1,000 in cash.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that a search of his home uncovered a further large sum of cash as well as over €5,000 of cannabis.
Brady of Moatview Avenue, Priorswood, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and cannabis for sale or supply at locations in Priorswood on August 19, 2019.
