Twenty people were arrested during a two-day undercover operation that was conducted to help stop sex trafficking in the area, according to the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force.
Five of those arrested were charged with traveling to meet a minor for a sex act and electronic solicitation of a child.
In a news release on Monday, the task force identified those five suspects as:
Zachary Nathaniel Bradley, 20, of Tuscaloosa
Terence Xavier Colvin, 23, of Tuscaloosa
Francisco Marin-Cuevas, 35, of Tuscaloosa
Miguel Angel Garcia-Gonzalez, 29, of Bessemer
John Stephen Shoemaker, 64, of Tuscaloosa
Fifteen other suspects were charged with soliciting prostitution. Some face additional charges, such as possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia or carrying a pistol without a license. In total, 32 charges were brought against the 20 suspects who were arrested, police said.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A Tuscaloosa man known as rapper G. Weedy, has been sentenced to five and a half years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drugs and firearm charges.
In September 2020, 20-year-old Montrell Le’Robert White entered a blind guilty plea to charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
On October 9, 2019 agents with TPD’s Repeat Offender Unit, U.S. Marshals Office, ATF and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve White a warrant at his home for failing to appear in court. At the home, officers recovered 112 grams of marijuana, digital scales, multiple loaded firearms, magazines and ammunition.

14-Year-Old Runaway Missing for 6 Days in Tuscaloosa County
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff s Office is asking for help finding a 14-year-old girl who reportedly ran away from her home in Fosters almost a week ago.
In a post to social media, the sheriff s office said Anna Lynn Wheat was last seen on Saturday, January 30th, at a home on Highway 11 in Fosters.
Wheat is described as 5-foot, 7-inches and weighing around 200 pounds. She has brown hair, blue eyes and was last seen wearing a black sweater, gray sweatpants and brown boots.
Anyone with information on Wheat s whereabouts is urged to call the sheriff s office at 205-752-0616.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has a secret weapon to help solve mysteries and fight crime horses. The Mounted Unit, also known as the Mounted Posse, is a group of 13 civilian volunteers who have trained their personal horses to aid the sheriff’s department in search and rescue missions.
Atop the backs of these gentle giants, the Mounted Posse volunteers cover more ground and see from a better vantage point than a person searching on foot. One of their most recent missions took place last September when the unit deployed to help try to locate Kristie Ragland, a 52-year-old Brent woman last seen in the Tuscaloosa area.
