As a prosecutor, I strive to seek justice, respond with compassion, uphold victims’ rights, and advocate for those who cannot do so for themselves. As judge, I promise to use my experience as a trial attorney to assure that everyone in my courtroom is afforded a fair opportunity to be heard and treated with respect. I promise to follow the law and abide by the PA and U.S. Constitutions.
My name is Michelle Sibert, and I am running for Judge for the Court of Common Pleas here in Cumberland County. Dickinson School of Law brought me to Cumberland County in 1995, and for over 20 years I have served the residents of Cumberland County. My family and I serve our Country, our State, our County, and our Community. My husband of 20 years, Craig Sibert, served our Country as a United States Marine, and he currently serves this Commonwealth as a State Parole Officer.
“I’m happy with my results,” Smith said. “It was an interesting survey. I think they tried to capture more information.”
Smith noted that members filled out the survey after, instead of before, the bar association held its judicial forum. Candidates could provide information about their qualifications as well.
If people are looking for a surgeon, she said, they’re going to reach out to other surgeons and people in the medical field for an opinion.
“Lawyers have a vested interest in having a judge who’s qualified and competent and has the proper temperament and integrity,” Smith said. “Basically, all the categories that the bar poll covers.”
