He was armed with a pistol on his waistband, but he didn t resist, Manor Police Chief  Ryan Phipps told  NBC News. He was fully compliant with our officers commands. Broderick, who was a former detective with the Travis County Sheriff s Office, is accused of fatally shooting two women and one man in what officials said was an isolated domestic incident. Authorities said that a child was also involved but has been located and is safe.

The man believed responsible for gunning down three people in Austin Sunday has been arrested in Manor. The Manor Police Department reported late Monday morning that Stephen Nicholas Broderick was arrested while walking along Old Kimbro Road. According to a news release from Manor PD, the Travis County Sheriff s Office was dispatched to the 123000 block of Old Kimbro Rd. around 6:53 AM Monday in response to a call about a suspicious person. Two callers reported seeing a man fitting Broderick s description walking south along the road wearing a black shirt and dark jeans. When Manor Police Department officers got to the scene, they conducted what was described as a high risk stop , positively identified the man as Broderick, and took him into custody at 7:05 AM.

Stephen Broderick, 41, was arrested without incident at about 7 a.m. following two 911 emergency calls about a “suspicious person” walking on a rural street near U.S. 290, said Police Chief Ryan Phipps of Manor, Texas, about 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Austin. “He was armed with a pistol in his waistband,” Phipps said. “He complied with verbal instructions. There was no resistance.”
