A spokesman for Detroit police did not respond to a Free Press request for comment, but Detroit Corporation Counsel Lawrence Garcia gave a brief statement that said,  We are aware of Mr. Kwart s complaints, and the DPD has an open investigation on the matter, and offered no further comment.

A woman was driving on Interstate 75 on Friday night when a car pulled up next to her and began shooting, according to Michigan State Police.  Around 2 a.m. Saturday, officials at Detroit Medical Center s Detroit Receiving Hospital notified police that a woman came in with a gunshot wound. The woman told police that earlier, she was driving northbound on I-75 near Mack Avenue when a car started shooting at her, Michigan State Police said on Twitter.  The woman said after being shot, she exited the freeway and drove to the hospital. Police said she s in stable condition. After interviewing her, police closed I-75 for an hour to look for evidence.
