Oxygen concentrators emerged as “essential life support machines”, says Manish Sisodia. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the finance portfolio, on Monday wrote to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman requesting that GST be waived on oxygen concentrators for a period of six months.
These, Mr. Sisodia wrote, had emerged as “essential life support machines” given the surging COVID cases in the Capital and citizens would benefit if the GST complement of the price could be waived off.

New Delhi, May 3 : Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday requested Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to waive off GST on oxygen concentrators.
Welcoming reduction of IGST to 12 per cent on imports of oxygen concentrators through e-commerce platforms, Sisodia, in a letter to Sitharaman, said: It would be appropriate if the government of India and GST Council consider exempting GST on Oxygen concentrators for the period of six months.
Sisodia had also requested the Defence Ministry to help make arrangements for supply of medical oxygen for the Covid health facility to be set up.

Deputy CM Sisodia writes to Commerce Minister to allot 976 t a day from 490 t now
The Delhi government has urged the Centre to increase the daily allocation of medical oxygen 976 tonnes a day from 490 tonnes on “humanitarian grounds” due to the unprecedented health crisis.
The additional oxygen allocation is urgently required and this should preferably come from nearby oxygen plants reducing the turnaround time, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote in a letter to Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
