COVID-19: Delhi records 306 deaths, positivity exceeding 36 percent

New Delhi: Delhi entered a record 306 COVID-19 deaths and 26,169 cases with a positivity rate of 36.24 percent, the highest since the epidemic began a year ago, for the third consecutive day in city hospitals on Thursday. Oxygen supply decreased. .
There have been more than 1,750 deaths in the city in the last 10 days due to the deadly virus.
It recorded 24,638 cases and 249 deaths on Wednesday as the positivity rate was 31.28 percent.
On Tuesday, 28,395 cases, the highest single-day cases ever, were reported with a positivity of 32.82 percent.
The capital saw 23,686 cases on Monday with a positivity of 26.12 percent.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said the Centre has increased Delhi’s quota of oxygen supply to treat coronavirus patients as the city faces unprecedented shortages amid a second wave of the pandemic.
Supplies of medical oxygen in Delhi had been running alarmingly low for the second day on Wednesday, with several top hospitals of the city saying they only had oxygen to last another few hours.

Synopsis
The state government denied allegations by several hospitals in Delhi on Wednesday that it was not allowing vendors to supply oxygen to them. It also denied Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia s allegation that an official of the Haryana government stopped oxygen supply to Delhi from a plant in Faridabad.

Officials said that Haryana, until recently, had allocation of 118 MT daily, which had been revised, but now with increasing COVID cases in the state there was a sudden spurt in demand from the hospitals in the state.
