Laura McKenzie decided to participate in the Kidney March this year for the first time shortly after her four-month-old daughter underwent surgery due to renal issues.
The Kidney Foundation of Canada’s annual Kidney March which is based in Calgary and has fundraised more than $9.5 million for research, patient programs and organ donation initiatives since 2010 is taking place virtually again this year due to the pandemic. But that isn’t stopping mothers like McKenzie, and other family members and friends, from walking 100 kilometres in support of their “kidney kids.”
