Medical examiner identifies pedestrian hit by semi on I-39/90 May 14, 2021 10:11 AM Logan Rude Updated: SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian vs. semi-truck crash. Authorities said the victim was killed when he was hit by a semi-truck while walking on I-39/90 just north of the interchange with Highway 151 shortly before 4 a.m. on May 7. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Adam L. Buhler of Sun Prairie. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office said Buhler was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He died from injuries he suffered when hit.

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people found dead in a Sun Prairie home last week. Police responded to the 300 block of South Legacy Way around 5:45 p.m. for a death investigation on May 5. Authorities found two people dead inside the home. The deceased have been identified as 37-year-old Jan V. Hyatt and 35-year-old Chad A. Rury. Both Hyatt and Rury were pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office, both people died from gunshot wounds. Additional testing is still underway.

Dane County convenes first meeting of task force to help prevent deaths from suicide, drug overdose and alcoholism

RILEY VETTERKIND With suicides and overdoses on the rise amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Dane County Executive Joe Parisi on Wednesday convened the first meeting of a task force aiming to prevent such deaths. Preliminary 2020 data from the Dane County Medical Examiner show increases in both suicides and overdoses. In 2020, the county reported 75 deaths by suicide, compared to 60 such deaths in 2019. Additionally, the county recorded 127 fatal opiate overdoses in 2020, an increase from 113 in 2019 and 98 in 2018. Emergency medical services agencies in Dane County responded to a 23% higher volume of suspected opioid overdoses in 2020 compared with 2019, with peak volumes occurring in May 2020, as job losses from the pandemic mounted.
