Ohio high court sides with Frenchko | News, Sports, Jobs

gvogrin@tribtoday.com The Ohio Supreme Court will not overturn the results of the November election that put Niki Frenchko in the Trumbull County commissioners office. The court dismissed the appeal Dan Polivka, former Trumbull County commissioner, filed with the high court in February after a visiting judge in December ruled in Frenchko’s favor. Polivka sought court intervention in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to keep Frenchko from taking office. He asked the court to allow him to continue as commissioner and to hold another election, questioning Frenchko’s residency in Trumbull County. Polivka, the chairman of the Trumbull County Democratic Party, lost to the Republican by 4.5 percentage points in November.

Officer arraigned on misdemeanor | News, Sports, Jobs

WEATHERSFIELD A township police officer, who also trains police dogs, pleaded not guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor falsification charge. David Blosser III, 50, 3069 Durst Clagg Road NE, Bazetta, was arraigned before Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald J. Rice, but Blosser’s attorney has filed a motion seeking to have the case moved to Warren Municipal Court. Blosser was booked into the Trumbull County jail, but immediately released on a personal recognizance bond ordered by Rice. Attorney Sam Amendolara said that since the charge is a misdemeanor, the prosecutors in the lower court are “more than capable” of handling Blosser’s case.
