WEATHERSFIELD A township police officer, who also trains police dogs, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave after being charged with a misdemeanor count of falsification.
David Blosser III, 50, 3069 Durst Clagg Road NE, Bazetta, was indicted Wednesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. The charge is not related to his duties as a police officer, according to a written statement from Weathersfield police Chief Michael Naples Jr.
No information on the charge was given. Blosser is to be arraigned April 8 before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice. Blosser intends to plead not guilty, Naples said.
According to newspaper archives, Blosser was hired full-time by Weathersfield in December 2014, but worked part time for Weathersfield and Fowler before being hired full time. He was the police dog handler for both townships.

WARREN A doctor who now practices in Boardman has filed a civil suit against the Steward Medical Group claiming the practice was illegally paying him to make referrals to other physicians in its group.
The suit filed March 4 on behalf of Dr. Adil Jaffer of Canfield seeks relief to “fully, fairly and justly” compensate him for his losses from his firing from the practice. It calls for punitive and compensatory damages as well as front and back pay and any attorney fees incurred by the doctor.
Steward, based in Boston, Mass., is part of Steward Health Care, which owns Trumbull Regional Medical Center as well as other medical practices in the Mahoning Valley. An email was sent to Steward’s corporate office seeking comment about the lawsuit, but it was not answered.
Brookfield police filed criminal felony charges in the case last week.
Village Green Veterinary Service and Kilar Properties of 107 Christian Ave., Hubbard, have filed the civil action against defendants Tracey E. and Thomas J. Obermiyer of 499 Obermiyer Road, Brookfield, according to a lawsuit filed in February in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
The case, which also names unknown individuals who may have acted in concert with the Obermiyers, has been assigned to Judge Peter J. Kontos, who has not scheduled any hearings yet, according to court records.
The Obermiyers were served a copy of the lawsuit as of Feb. 17, according to records, but have not filed an answer. A voice message was left on the landline telephone at the Obermiyers home seeking comment.
