(KOLD News 13) - Drexel Heights Fire District saved a mobile home from catching on fire by extinguishing a nearby shed in flames on Jan. 5. At 6:30 p.m., Drexel Heights Fire responded to a report of a possible structure fire and an elderly resident refusing to exit. Officials say the fire burned through the roof of the shed and was beginning to extend to the residence. Firefighters performed search and rescue in the mobile home and removed an elderly resident confined to a chair.

(KOLD News 13) - The first doses of the Moderna vaccine arrived in Pima County this week and Green Valley Fire District and Drexel Heights Fire District are working in partnership with the Pima County Health Department to distribute the vaccine to their firefighters as quickly as possible. “Protecting our firefighters is extremely important so they can continue to protect the communities we serve,” says Chief Doug Chappell with the Drexel Heights Fire District. “We are happy to be able to offer these vaccines to our employees and look forward to our second round doses next month.”
