TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Most of the Tucson area avoided heavy flooding, but several flood rescues were made in Pima County Saturday. The majority of Tucson saw a reprieve from the rain today but many rescues were made in Pima County as the Sahuarita area and Green Valley saw some flash flooding. Over the past 72 hours the Tucson area has received just over 2.50 inches of rain, which brings this year’s monsoon rainfall total to 4.45 inches.

(KOLD News 13) - Today, just after 9 a.m., fire crews with the Drexel Heights Fire District responded to the 6900 block of W. Flying W in Tucson’s west-side after receiving a report of a vehicle fire. Once on scene, firefighters found an R.V. fully captured by flames, and crews tried to control it before it spread to nearby residences.

(KOLD News 13) - The first doses of the Moderna vaccine arrived in Pima County this week and Green Valley Fire District and Drexel Heights Fire District are working in partnership with the Pima County Health Department to distribute the vaccine to their firefighters as quickly as possible. “Protecting our firefighters is extremely important so they can continue to protect the communities we serve,” says Chief Doug Chappell with the Drexel Heights Fire District. “We are happy to be able to offer these vaccines to our employees and look forward to our second round doses next month.”
