Twin Cedars Good to Go for Return

Twin Cedars Happy to be able to Reschedule Games

After having several games postponed or canceled following a positive COVID-19 case in their basketball program, Twin Cedars is thankful to have been able to make up all the events with the exception of one boys varsity game. Girls’ Head Coach and Activities Director Trent Verwers has a great deal of gratitude for the other ADs for working with the Sabers to have what will wind up being a near full schedule to finish out the year. “I’ve been on the phone with other coaches and ADs on this, trying to find games to make up and thank goodness the other ADs were really good to work with. We were able to make every game up that we could. We’re not losing any games and we’re just looking to go from there.”

Twin Cedars Girls Team Short Handed as Practice Starts Again

The 4-6 Sabers girls are in a good position after having some scheduling issues thus far, but things took a back seat this week as they had to have some players miss time due to COVID-19 related protocols. When practice started back up last week, there were only three girls able to participate. That makes running drills virtually impossible as there aren’t enough for a full team, let alone others to practice against. Head Coach Trent Verwers says that is was certainly a challenge, but it is back to business as usual now that the quarantine period has past

Twin Cedars Girls Spent Most Of Break In Quarantine

The Twin Cedars Girls basketball Squads have been in quarantine over the break. The Sabers only have had three girls available for practice which does not make for much to do. But Coach Trent Verwers tells KRLS Sports they have had to get a little creative and work on a lot of individual parts of the game. Verwers: “Once break started we’ve had to quarantine our girls and we’ve had three girls all break. We’ve done all we could, there are some things you can and can’t do. Saturday is when we get everybody back so that’s when we have to get after it.”

Twin Cedars Girls Hopes For A Surprise Run In The Conference Tournament

The Twin Cedars Girls Basketball Squad is ready to get back on the court for the 2nd half of the season next week. The Sabers stand at 4-6 and 2-2 in the Bluegrass Conference. While the regular season conference title is likely out of reach, Coach Trent Verwers tells KRLS Sports the conference tournament later in January is still something to shoot for. Verwers: “We’ve never really talked about it that much, but the girls athletically can compete in any sport they play. They’re finally realizing that they’re not just a softball school and they just have to put the time and effort into it.
